The Pic du Midi de Bigorre
► Tour runs year-round
True emblem of
the Bigorre region
On our way to a trip in the heart of the Pyrenees, the majestic Pic du Midi de Bigorre, and its famous observatory. At a height of 2,877 meters the Pic is the Eiffel Tower of the region, the symbol of identity for all the locals. A visit to the Hautes-Pyénées wouldn’t be complete without an unforgettable excursion to the Pic du Midi. Don’t hesitate to reach for the stars.
From our departure point in Lourdes, our route takes us towards La Mongie ski station. You’ll start your meeting with the symbol of “Bigourdans” people. In barely 15 minutes you’ll be able to climb 1,000 meters of level difference during an unforgettable ascent in the cable car that takes you up close and personal to the magnificent peaks of the Pyrenees. From the celestial terrace you’ll be able to gaze southward at the Pyrenees chain, and to the plains in the north. You’ll have the best seat in the house. This is the best place, from the Atlantic, to the Mediterranean, to view these mountains. The summit is famous for its beauty but also for its observatory, world-renowned for its scientific significance. In the observatory museum you can enjoy the exhibitions in Europe’s highest museum. A visit to this spot will help you understand why it is held so dear in the hearts of all Bigourdans, an experience that will not soon be forgotten.
